What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

he Child Care Subsidy (CCS) makes early childhood learning more affordable for many Australian families. The below guide should help you help break down how the benefit works for you and your family.

Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) depends on a number of factors, including;

  1. How much "work related activity" you and your partner undertake each fortnight. The entitlement is based on the person who does the lower amount of activity.
  2. Your combined family income. The higher the income, the less subsidy you are entitled to generally.
  3. The type of early childhood education or child care undertaken.

At Little Explorers, our educators are qualified, experienced, and genuinely passionate about working with children. Our leadership team is actively involved in the day-to-day running of the centre, ensuring consistent quality and strong relationships with families.

All educators hold current Child Protection, First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis, and Asthma training, and maintain valid Working With Children Checks.

Our team works closely with families to support each child’s individual needs, particularly during transitions such as starting care or moving rooms. We maintain open communication and encourage families to ask questions, share information, and stay connected to their child’s learning.

INFANT CARE

Our infant care program in Ermington provides a safe, calm and nurturing environment for children under 2 years of age. We focus on building secure relationships, supporting each baby’s individual needs, and creating a strong foundation for early development.

We follow flexible routines tailored to each child’s sleep, feeding, and comfort needs, ensuring babies feel secure and well supported throughout the day. Our infant rooms include dedicated areas for rest, play and exploration, along with opportunities for outdoor experiences in a safe environment.

Through gentle play, sensory experiences and responsive interactions, our educators support children’s early development, including physical, language, social and emotional growth. Each child’s learning journey is documented and shared with families, so you can stay connected to their milestones and progress.

TODDLER CARE

(2-3 YEARS)

Our toddler program in Ermington supports children as they develop independence, confidence and social skills in a safe and nurturing environment.

We provide a consistent daily routine that includes free play, guided learning experiences, group times for music and language, and outdoor exploration. This structure helps toddlers feel secure while encouraging curiosity and active learning.

Our educators support each child’s social and emotional development, helping them build relationships, understand boundaries and develop self-regulation skills. Through play-based learning, we support physical development, language, creativity and early problem-solving.

Each child’s learning and development is documented and shared with families, keeping you connected to their progress and milestones.

PRESCHOOL CARE

(3-5 YEARS)

Our preschool program in Ermington supports children aged 3–5 years to develop independence, confidence and a positive approach to learning in a safe and engaging environment.

Through play-based learning, children build important skills in communication, problem-solving, social interaction and self-help, preparing them for a successful transition to school.

Transition to School Program

  • We support children and families through the transition to school with a structured and gradual approach. Our educators build children’s confidence by encouraging independence, promoting positive attitudes towards school, and providing opportunities for discussion and reassurance.
  • School readiness is embedded in everyday learning through practical experiences such as lunchbox routines, group learning, responsibility tasks, and independence skills, rather than through a short-term program.
Supporting Families
  • We work closely with families to support each child’s transition to school. Our service offers school-readiness information sessions and guidance on supporting your child’s development at home.
  • Educators prepare the NSW Transition to School Statement in partnership with families, providing valuable information to your child’s future school to support a confident start.
Celebrating Milestones
  • We celebrate children’s achievements through a graduation event at the end of the year, recognising their growth and marking this important transition in their learning journey.
  • As children reach three years of age and begin to come into their own, it is important that they have time and space to explore their independence in a safe and supportive environment. We support the development of autonomy and a positive attitude towards learning.
