What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS)?

he Child Care Subsidy (CCS) makes early childhood learning more affordable for many Australian families. The below guide should help you help break down how the benefit works for you and your family.

Eligibility for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) depends on a number of factors, including;

  1. How much "work related activity" you and your partner undertake each fortnight. The entitlement is based on the person who does the lower amount of activity.
  2. Your combined family income. The higher the income, the less subsidy you are entitled to generally.
  3. The type of early childhood education or child care undertaken.

Little Explorers is a family-owned and operated long day care service, led by an owner with formal educational qualifications and more than 20 years’ experience in early childhood education.

As a close-knit, family-run centre, we pride ourselves on building strong, meaningful relationships with children and families. Little Explorers is a privately owned and family-operated long day care and preschool service, providing education and care for children aged 0–5 years. We are committed to delivering high-quality programs with a strong focus on early childhood development and wellbeing.

Licensing

We are fully licensed and approved by the Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) and the NSW Department of Education. Through ongoing monitoring and regular compliance inspections, we maintain a strong focus on high-quality care, safety, and regulatory compliance.

As an approved long day care service, families attending Little Explorers are eligible to apply for the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) through Centrelink/Families Assistance Office.

INFANT CARE

(Under 2 Years)

Young children need lots of love and extra special care, and our Infant Care program provides just that for children under 2 years of age. Each dedicated infant room is a comfortable space filled with nurturing surroundings and loving care. Our program offers one-on-one and group activities, gentle play, and safe exploration. It stimulates the development of young minds without being overwhelming.

Each infant’s needs differ, so we follow flexible routines for babies under 12 months. There are areas for sleep, relaxation, personal space, and opportunities for outdoor experiences in the fresh air. You won’t miss out on all the little milestones - each child has a personal learning journal that captures their journey as it unfolds.Educators in our infant rooms are committed to creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where babies can explore and interact with their environment and peers. 

Educators encourage and support children’s physical development, language and literacy, cognitive and general knowledge, approaches to learning, social and emotional development, and creative expression through healthy interactions with other infants and adults.

TODDLER CARE

(2-3 YEARS)

For a toddler, the world is a magical place, full of constant learning and exploration. When caring for toddlers, we support their adventure while providing positive emotional guidance to help them understand the boundaries of their growing independence.

We provide structure to little lives through a consistent routine, including free play, intentional play, group times for music and language, and outdoor experiences. Our encouraging and nurturing educators are sensitive to the individual needs of each toddler’s social and emotional development. Each child also has a personal learning journal, allowing you to follow them on their exciting journey of self-discovery.

Educators in our toddler rooms focus on self-soothing and self-regulation techniques, promoting independence, motor skill development, and coordination. Curiosity and imagination are where learning begins. Educators observe and assess children daily in the areas of physical development, language and literacy, social and emotional development, and creative arts.

PRESCHOOL CARE

(3-5 YEARS)

As children reach three years of age and begin to come into their own, it is important that they have time and space to explore their independence in a safe and supportive environment. We support the development of autonomy and a positive attitude towards learning.
 
TRANSITION TO SCHOOL PROGRAM
We recognise that starting school is a significant change for both children and their families. To ease this transition, our educators speak about school in a positive and encouraging way, reinforcing healthy attitudes and providing opportunities for discussion and reassurance.


Our curriculum incorporates school readiness experiences such as lunchbox days, school uniform show and tell, and the gradual development of independence skills required for "big school”. These experiences are embedded over time in the preschool room - not as a crash course, but through everyday practices that strengthen children’s readiness for school.

TRANSITION TO SCHOOL INFORMATION SESSIONS
Transitioning to school is one of the biggest milestones for children and families. Building strong relationships between early childhood services and schools before children begin kindergarten supports a smooth and confident transition. It also enables information-sharing between families and schools prior to commencement.

As part of our Transition to School Program, we host school readiness information sessions for families in June and again in September. These sessions provide essential information to assist with both the transition process and decisions about school readiness. We also offer guidance on how you can support your child’s readiness at home in partnership with what they are learning at Little Explorers.

NSW TRANSITION TO SCHOOL STATEMENT
The NSW Transition to School Statement is prepared by educators with input from children and families. This document is provided to your child’s teacher in the following year and contains important information to support a successful and confident start to school.

GRADUATION
We hold a special graduation celebration at the end of the year for our school leavers. This event marks a significant milestone in the children’s lives as we come together to celebrate their achievements and the end of a memorable year.
